Grupo Baron is a group of three family-owned companies focused on engine rebuilding, auto-parts sales and industrial metalworking services. With more than 70 years of experience and 5 branches throughout the country we provide the best service in all the areas mentioned.
HISTORY
Colonel Herman Baron founded the first engine rebuilding shop in El Salvador called H. Baron. The shop included engine rebuilding services, and an industrial division to manufacture parts. Colonel Herman Baron graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Colonel Herman Baron's son, Carlos Baron, began managing the company. Carlos Baron graduated from El Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey with a degree in Business Administration.
Carlos Baron founded Repuestos Baron (REBASA) which is dedicated to the distribution of auto-parts and represents many of the best brands in the world.
Seeing that the industrial division of H. Baron was growing and the market was expanding, Gerardo Baron made the decision to split H. Baron in two. H. Baron, the engine rebuilding division, and INVERSOP, the industrial division. Gerardo Baron acquired CNC technology, making our plant the most complete in the country.
Gerardo Baron opens branches throughout the country in San Miguel, Santa Ana, Sonsonate, Santa Tecla and the Iberia branch.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Colonel Herman Baron
- Graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University.
- He was one of the founders of the Salvadoran Air Force, and it was there that he began his military career.
- In 1944 he had to leave El Salvador due to a military coup that deposed the government and began working at Garret AiResearch in Los Angeles until 1949.
- 1952 he founded H. Baron.
- In 1959, when his son Carlos Baron started managing the company, Colonel Herman Baron joined the army as chief engineer.
- While in the army he invented and developed a machine gun called HB-1 which was tested at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and is included in the book The World’s Submachine Guns Vol. 1 by Thomas B. Nelson. Nelson, in which it is described as: "Satisfactory and operable under the most adverse conditions".
